Class Description:

Kokedama String Garden Workshop
Get your hands dirty and ring in the New Year at The Farm at South Mountain. Learn all about the secrets of floral design at our upcoming Kokedama String Garden Workshop. The class is geared towards the beginner, so you can relax and have fun exploring floral design with the aid of helpful plant gurus who can answer all your questions. The class includes all materials (moss, bonsai soil, string, succulents) needed to create two beautiful kokedamas to take away. Participants will have the option to create hanging string gardens and/or pairing with a piece of stone for the base. Expert plant care and maintenance will also be covered in the class.

Kokedama is an old art form of floral design originating out of Japan over 500 years ago. It is also often referred to as the poor man’s bonsai. Instead of a pot, moss is used as a container for planting. The focus for our upcoming Kokedama String Garden Workshop will be on utilizing succulents to create a living piece of art.

Note: you may have too much fun playing in the dirt with family/friends, so please dress accordingly (or bring an apron).
