Class description:

Join food stylist Ellen Straine on the eve of the 2018 Academy Awards to celebrate movies about food with food from the movies, featuring recipes from Big Night, Babette’s Feast, Like Water for Chocolate, and Chocolat. Complimentary glass of wine included.

Crostini with Goat Cheese (from Big Night, 1996)

Sopa de Fideos (from Like Water for Chocolate, 1992)

Braised Quail (Chicken) in Puff Pastry (from Babette’s Feast, 1987) Chocolate Salami, Mascarpone, Fruit, and Nuts (from Chocolat, 2000)

About the Teacher:

Ellen has been a food stylist since 1995. She grows vegetables, herbs, and flowers in her backyard gardens that often appear in her work. A partial list of clients, past and present, include Ritz-Carlton, Land O’Lakes, Best Western, Cabela’s, Kona Grill, Santa Barbara Catering Company, P.F. Chang’s, Pei Wei, Peter Piper Pizza, AJ’s Fine Foods, Grimaldi’s, McDonald’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Barro’s, Tilted Kilt, Bar Louie, Wynn Las Vegas & Encore Resort, Planet Hollywood, and Z’Tejas.

Where is this event Located?

Upon arrival at The Farm, head to the back of the Grove until you reach the second parking lot. Class will be held at the end of The Shed in the main garden. Look for class sign.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

All ages welcome, although the agenda is geared for adults.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The Farm has parking at the end of the lane or across 32nd street.

What can/can’t I bring to the event?

Please wear shoes for walking and sunscreen if you need. It may be a cool morning, dress appropriately.
